Getting in front of the camera for the first time in a longgggggg time was a good reminder of how my clients likely feel during one of their sessions- flustered, awkward, and insecure. Couple that with running late, three dogs who quickly forgot they were domesticated and carrying around an additional thirty pounds and you have me!
I was quickly put at ease with the super sweet and talented Samantha Webber of Samantha Webber Photography. She quickly helped me relax and practiced serious patience as my trio of puppies ran amuck while she got down to business posing two extremely awkward and camera shy subjects. I didn’t think I would be able to find a photographer for my maternity portraits knowing how picky I was but discovered Samantha through a photography community on Facebook that we were both involved in. She did a fabulous job and I’m so grateful we documented this ultra-special time in our lives (especially before my belly gets ultra-huge).
I don’t know if you’ve ever taken photos with your significant other, but on most occasions, the guy is a little less than enthused to be there. He will either drag his feet throughout the session in protest or do everything the photographer says while mentally counting down the seconds till it’s over. I get it. I can’t say I’m all that different, if I’m being honest. But if I can brag on my husband (or better known as husBABE) for a minute, he was the ultimate trooper during our session. He was so invested, patient and so sweet throughout the entire shoot and it made the entire experience that much more special. (This even involved carrying me and the bump around to most of our locations because to no one’s surprise, I couldn’t gracefully walk in wedges in the middle of a cow pasture.) I can’t help but to think that this is a glimpse of what John as a father will look like, which in turn, makes my usual composed demeanor turn into a pile of emotional and hormonal mush. He is just going to be the best, simple as that.
Special shout-out to our behind the scene dog whisperers and hair fixers: Ann, Kristin and Austin. Your extra six hands were desperately needed for treat distribution and beautification.
